Good thing I didn't go. SAN DIMAS -- Three women riding on a personal watercraft were killed Saturday when they crashed into a motorboat at a Los Angeles County reservoir.
The collision at Puddingstone Lake near San Dimas also left all four people on the boat injured, three of them seriously, county fire Inspector Matt Levesque said.
The three women on the Sea-Doo watercraft, ages 25, 35 and 60, were declared dead when paramedics arrived at the scene at about 4:30 p.m., authorities said.
Three men from the boat -- ages 22, 35 and 36 -- had serious trauma injuries and were airlifted to hospitals, Levesque said. Their injuries were not life-threatening, the Sheriff's Department later said in a statement.
A 22-year-old woman from the boat had minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in an ambulance.
Sheriff's homicide detectives were investigating the deaths, the statement said, but it gave no further details on the collision or its cause. Lifeguards from the county's parks and recreation department were also investigating.
None of the victims' names were immediately released because relatives had not been notified.
Levesque did not know how many people the Sea-Doo was designed to hold, but said the company does manufacture vehicles that carry three passengers.
