Jet ski anchor

I recently purchased a Sea-Doo sandbag to use as an anchor it works great for my spark but not so much for my txt. I see other guys having no problem with their skis. What's my best option?

I have a little mushroom anchor that I keep in the rxp. I've never had any trouble using the sand anchors with the sparks or even the rxp when we tried it with that.

the smaller, lighter mushroom or sand anchors IMO only work when the current or wave action is minimal.

I found them useless on the gulf, just made the ski drift away a little slower than if I did nothing.

my solution on the beach was to use the dog anchor and a rope.

I grabbed a couple at home depot for $4 each a couple years back, note: the first one I bought rusted out pretty fast so I learned to hose them off when I got home.... and I just wrap them in a towel so they don't bang around too much in the storage bin.

I know one guy that took a standard grapnel anchor and pulled the 4 hooks off, welded two of them on the top so he could push it into the sand with his feet, and it seemed to hold up ok in current.

personally I got tired of messing with the anchor and just drag my ski up on the shore and move on, but i'm lucky that 95% of the time I have grass or sand to pull up on.. no rocks.

I bought one of these cheap anchors (some metal covered with plastic) for 25 bucks but I was not satisfied with the result as the anchor was dragging in the sand at the bottom until someone told me the trick:

- The rope needs to be twice as long as your ski.
- Actually, chain is better and rope must be sinking rope.

Here's what I did: I removed the cheap rope from the anchor and bought 6 feet of chain (medium size, not too small, not too big). I attached the chain to the anchor using a chain link (the kind that you can screw/unscrew to install/remove). Then I bought six more feet of sinking marine rope and attached it to the end of the chain.

I now have an anchor and chain at the bottom the the lake and the chain makes all the difference because it prevents the anchor of being drag by the floating rope. Unless there are strong sustained winds or lots of wake from wake boats, it never drifts anymore and my ski is never beached anymore.

Benji.

Danforth hands down is the best all around anchor. That said, most are metal and harder to carry around due to their design. The Cooper anchor is plastic and works very well for most applications.

I use a 10 pound weight from my barbell tie a floating rope to it and ur good to go
