jet pump seal

I removed the pump and solas impeller this weekend for mid summer maintenance. There was a small round piece of metal around the hub[aft,thread side] of the impeller,looked like a snap ring. Didn`t notice it before,had to come from front of oil seal on pump. I was going to replace bearings and seal this winter any way. Not sure what caused it-excessive play maybe? No water was in oil. Has anybody seen this before? Thanks 97 challenger single 787

It could be from the seal... but if it is... the seal would be leaking.

If you have any radial play... the oil would be milky, and the impeller would crash into the wear ring.

I should adopt this...although our summers aren't that long down here ...so probably not AS important....so sad.
