Jet Pump Oil

My local dealer is out of the jet pump oil. Can I use regular Outboard Gear Lube instead?

From what I have read you can use a synthetic oil in the 75-90 weight range. You might wanna look around at past threads and see what other have recommended. Best of luck.

The quart bottle says High Viscosity SAE 80w90 Lower Unit Gear Lubricant API GL-5 Performance

yeah, I used the Mobil Syn 75w-90

I went ahead and got a bottle of Mobil 1 75w90 synthetic just to be safe. I am just about done getting the 1997 GTX and 1998 GTX LTD ready for the season and was wondering if the require maintainance on the counter balance if they have they have fill plugs

yeah, (787)has big slot for flathead screwdriver, 951 has allen bolt. goin to check mine today, but hav'n tuff time, try'n to use something, for measurement of 1oz
I've read, the 787 should be checked every 50hrs, the 951 every 200hrs. Think i'd check both, peace of mind
