the manual is telling me how to check the propulsion pump after filling with oil and rebuilding while on the bench. can i just check the oil in this without tearing all apart any further before i put the engine back in this.it was running last year ok for the guy i bought it from. he just ruined the engine by laying it over in the water to long. i just would like to save myself work down the road or danmage to pump over something stupid or not checking simple things first.

thanks again

if im not posting the proper place ? let me know and i try bto get this forum posting thing proper.:banghead:

Sounds good!..

Yeah, that sounds good!.......If you got it accessible, I'd remove the cone on the end of the stator and let the oil drain out. It should only be a couple ounces. Inspect the oil for metallic shavings and make sure it's not yellowish in color from being aerated with water. Then, put a film of silicone on your "0" ring and put it back together, fill it with Seadoo pump oil or a 75-90 wt synthetic gear oil. The manual states its a polyolester oil.

While your at it, grab the impeller and shake it from side to side, to see that the bearings are tight. It will have a bit of axial (forward to rear) play in it, but you should have no side to side. Also, inspect the wearing ring for clearance...........no more than .040".......or, the thickness of a couple sheets of paper.

checked the pump and changed oil

:hurray:i just drained the oil and refilled .no problem. impeller shaft is tight and smooth. only about 15thou clearance in the impeller.some of this stuff is in the manual just didnt read enough, sorry for the stupid question.
thanks
