Jet boat trailing and sitting questions

my jet boat is 2001 Sportster LE.

I found that trailing with the reverse gate in N position will cause a lot of rattling because it is loose in N position. I was afraid that the bumpy road would shake the gate off!
Last trip I put it into reverse, so that the gate is kind of "locked" in. rattling is gone.
Not sure what do other people do with the shift position when they are towing the boat.

Another question:
After read the the front tow hook broken thread, I checked my tow hook, found some crazings around the hook. Was wondering how strong is the hook and the hull around it.
So my question is after you pull the boat out of water, do you loose the winch a little or let it sit with the strong tension?

(having problems posting new threads on my iPhone, it keeps saying you have no permission to do so)

When I trailer my skis the winch and rear tie down straps are tight. When I get home I loosen them. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to keep them tight. My thoughts are that by loosening everything there is less strain on the skis, trailer, bunks and the straps.

I do the same during the winter storage period. My boat & ski sit on a hoist all summer so no need to loosen the straps at that time.

What do you guys do with the reverse gate? Put it in N and let it rattle?

On my ski, I leave it in forward and I do not hear any rattle. I would do what is needed to eliminate the rattle as it will cause the plastic parts to wear quickly. If leaving it in a gear solves the rattle, then do that. If not, use a rubber band as it will not be an issue if you forget to remove it.

That doesn't sound right to me. I have never had a rattle on either of the boats i have and the gate is actually really snug even when in N.

Mine is too in N, I can push it up a bit. If I tighten the bolts then its hard to shift. I usually keep in in F but because I forget to return to N when I get it on the trailer.

That is why mine are in forward. LOL
