I am considering installing Jet Boat Pilot rudders on my 2010 Challenger 180 to improve slow speed maneuverability. Has anyone installed these rudders on their sport boat? Do these significantly improve slow speed maneuverability significantly? Any drawbacks? Thanks

I love the docking maneuverability of a seadoo jet boat. What speeds are giving you problems maneuvering?

My RXT-X has the OPAS system and it does make a difference at low speeds. I have to think adding them would be worthwhile...

Here is a picture I found on the net regarding the rudders

Personally I would not. I would learn how to use what you got well. I like the jet boat because it is a jet boat. That means the inherent characteristics of the operation makes it what is is. My favorite docking maneuver is using neutral to drift sideways into the spot. Having the rudders will increase drag.

Now the only time I wish I had a rudder was being towed. The boat tends to do a wiggle back and forth because it does not have a rudder.

Knowing how to maneuver the boat to dock is one thing. Having positive directional control at slow speeds is another. While having rudders at slow speeds do increase drag, the Jet Boat Pilot rudders are designed to flip up at higher speeds to eliminate drag at higher speeds. Thanks for your inputs but I'm looking for input from someone who has installed this brand on their boat.
