i have a 96 jeep grandcherokee and i have replaced almost everything in the ac system except the evaporator core it blows cold on the lines under the hood but the air inside the vehicle doesnt get below 70 the ac clutch runs non stop and doesnt cycle it just runs continuously and have just replaced the compressor cycle switch but its still staying on i think it might be freezing up the inside of the evaporator. when the system was evac'ed it cycled but i think it might be overcharged now? would these symptoms be a sign of overcharging or possible other problems? if anybody does automotive repairs please let me know if you have ever experienced anything like this before?

thanks,
matt w

Yup... sounds like you are freezing up. Once the core freezes, it won't let cool air flow. If the compressor isn't cycling, then the thermocouple is bad.

Also... Jeeps had an issue with the blend door coupler breaking. If your blend door has a servo... pop it out, and see if the plastic coupler on the end of the motor is any good.

thermo couple

where is the thermocouple at or what is it? and it seems to cycle fine from heat to cold just doesnt get cold inside i was also told that the foam that was used in the evaporator boxes can seperate and get clog up the evaporator but this still doesnt explain why the compressor wont cycle? is to much freon what can make it continuously run or could it be the relay that might be bad? thank you dr. honda for your help.
