It's a little damp

I'm in the process of redoing the top end on my 787 engine. When I pulled the jugs off I could see a little water down inside the crank. Wasn't high enough to cover the bearings but a little damp. I used a turkey baster to get out some of the water but was only really able to get about a shot glass full.

Should I be worried about getting it completely dry in there and how would I do that. I'm not about to split the crankcase cause the engine is still in the boat and I'm quite confident that everything is in good shape.

Also I read that the 787 takes 30ml of SAE30 for the counterbalance. Does that oil end up in the crank or how does the crankcase stay lubed?

Personally... it will be a waste of money to do just the top end. If the lower is the original... it's tired. Couple that with finding water/moisture in the lower... and the bearings/seals that you can't see, are going to be rotten, and will probably scatter during the break in.

Sorry to sound harsh... but it's the truth.
