it does nothing at all-96 xp

hey all! i have a 96 xp just got a new battery for it the ones you fill yourself and charge. had my ski running in the morning started right up. now, i had bought a new fuel gauge for it that was the wrong one. didnt put it in but had the guages unhooked. hooked them back up and now it does nuthing. i bought a new battery but still. it doesnt beep, turn over or anything. its almost as if there is no battery. i am totally confused as i dont know much about these. any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks-Tim any help is greatly appreciated.

Double check your connections at the battery, then check your fuses...repost, also, if cables in any way look burnt, replace them since your in there...
