Islandia?

Folks,
I've got a 96 Speedster that I'm learning how to use, but my wife loves to fish, so I've been looking at the Islandia. Does anyone know about these boats? Are they 2 stroke? Most of the brochures just talk about them having Mercury Engines (v6). Are they a good idea? Issues? Like on CL, I'm seeing used boats advertised with new motors, and it looks like the changing station cloth is missing on a few of them. Is that normal?

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post. Just trying to get info.

Thanks!

Dr Honda will be able to provide good info relative the Merc engine as well as the Seado Boats in general.

Seadoo Boats can have 2-strokes, the Merc engine, or the 4-tech 4-stroke. Maybe the Speedster is limited to a specific engine, that I am not sure of. I can only tell you that all engines are available in Seadoo Boats. NADA has the following for the specific boat you are asking about.
Engine Specifications
Quantity: 2
Horse Power: 85
Type: Gasoline
Displacement (CCs): 718

Assuming this is correct, then it has the 718 2-stroke Seadoo Engine which is a popular engine and easy to repair in general.

Ack! Sorry! I meant to ask about info for the Islandia, but when I re-read the post, it sounded like I was asking for info on the Speedster. You are correct it's a pair of 718s. The guy I found here in the Tampa area (a SeaDoo Master Technician) tells me it's a 1996.5 model. I've got it running pretty well, now I'm working on learning how to be on the water! :-)

Since my wife is looking for something to fish off of, I was wondering about the Islandia, which looks like a Jet Boat/Deck Boat combo that's big enough to have friends out on and to actually carry fishing gear. I was just wondering if there are any sore spots to look for on the Islandia when searching for one on Craigslist/Boattrader/etc.

sorry to spam this but I was wondering if you ever got the Islalndia? I have one for sale if not. will make youa great deal on it.

not to discourage you from the SD brand... but My Bro in law who researches everything to death, looked at SD and Yami jet boats and ended up choosing a Hurricane Deck boat. I went out on it with him quite a few times and i have to admit I think he made an excellent choice, however I think it was 24K, (2 yrs old), which might be out of your budget. They do have a lot of older ones and at least here in FL, with of our shallows, it was a pretty good fit, and better fuel economy than a jet drive model.
