Islandia tach gauge goes backwards

I purchased some used replacement gauges (tach and speedo) for my 2004 Islandia. The speedo is great but the tach seems to sweep counter clockwise The brainless solution would be to reverse the plug but it doesn't really fit that way without jamming it and anyways, that's not likely to work is it?

Any ideas?

The gauge just reads the pulse. Some generic gauges have a + or - read.

This gauge is used but OEM. I don’t have good tools to read pulse length unfortunately. I can live without a tach but it sure is a little confusing!

Possible someone took it apart and reversed the wires when they reassembled it?

Well, its not just as simple as reversed polarity I think, if what is being measured is pulse width or frequency. Its also an 8-pin connector that seems to be intact. I'm happy to try plugging it in the opposite way as long as its not going to fry the electronics
