My 2000 Islandia with the M2 240 shut down at full speed today. It will start again immediately with no trouble, but shuts down after several minutes at speed. Gas guage and blower run while this is happening and the boat runs great until it shuts down. One mechanic told me to cut the wires on the black box mounted under the dash, but I had to get that thing INSTALLED as a recal item in 2002. Seems unlikely that cutting these wires is a good call.
Oil and fuel levels are fine. I replaced the fuel seperator, no improvement.

Short?

It sounds like you may have a loose wire or "bare" wire short somewhere. When you say "up to speed" for a few minutes. Are you talking about some kind of specific time frame. If you go WOT and it runs for 5 minutes and shuts down, then for 3 minutes and shuts down, then for 17 minutes and shuts down, this is likely a wire somewhere. A ground wire loose enough that when the engine vibrates at higher rpm, it breaks contact..........

but the boat starts immediately. a short seems like it would be intemittent. i also see no failure in the blower or gas guage.
