Islandia Reverse Cabe Leak

Ever since we purchased our 06 Islandia there has been a leak (trickle) surrounding the reverse cable. It was to be repaired and they replaced what appears from the parts diagram like a gasket and nut. Unfortunately the leak continues. I am wanting to take aim at this on my own, however I can't quite figure out what I need to take off to get to the nut and pull it out to see what we can do to get it to stop leaking. Any ideas?

First... you need to ID exactly where/why the water is coming in.

There is a nut, and grommet holding the cable... and that may just be loose. See if it will compress a little more. But, I would probably just loosen it... and put RTV around all of it... and tighten it back down. That should seal it up.

Is there a good way to get to the nut without tearing everything apart? It is back in there quite a way and I can't get anything on it tight enough to tighten it up.

If it's coming around the cable jacket, and in past the nut... I would just clean it, and put RTV around it, to see if that will stop the leak. (but it has to be clean first)

OK so on further inspection the nut actually was cracked. Finally got that removed and ordered a replacement. I went to put it on tonight (was going to use the sealant as well) and the nut does not fit over the threaded adjuster (pictured between the nut and part 31 on the parts diagram for the reverse gate on an 06 islandia.) I can not see any possible way to remove the threaded piece, am I missing something here?? Help please!

An update for future reference if anyone else is having this problem. After going through the parts diagram I decided the nut may fit over the other end of the cable. Removed the controls and pulled the cable completely out, put the compression nut on the end and re fished the reverse cable back to the controls. I did fill the cavity with RTV silicone as suggested before tightening down. I did order an aluminum version of this off of ebay instead of the plastic ones as they seem to be cracking on us. I am letting the RTV set up for 24 hours and will water test Saturday morning.

Glad to hear about the fix.

It's not a supper common issue, with the nut cracking... but it does happen.
