I am curious if anyone else is having this issue, and if they found a fix. 2001 Islandia Merc 240. It starts up just fine, and idles well. Randomly, sometimes when first started, sometimes after riding for a while and coming back to idle, when I try to accelerate again, I get an ugly sounding misfire, and the engine refuses to rev up. It seems to be related to the battery switch.
When it happens, I notice the battery switch blinks, but doesn't give me a beep. However, if I push the switch button to shut down the flashing, it will then run normally.
When this first started, I was very new to the boat, and never noticed the light flashing/the decals wore off so i didnt know what that switch was for... I always thought it was just the engine bay not being ventilated enough so not enough air to the motor...but this seems to fix it every time it's flashing. In reading the manual, it sounds like one of my alarm beepers is out, though the boat always beeps for me when I turn the key for ignition.
Temp sensors and fuel filters, etc have all been done. The engine oil tank is full as well. Always getting water flow thru the pisser out the back...Really I have been just dealing with it for the past couple of seasons while replacing things to see if it fixes it, but I am at my wits end anymore.
