Is the 1994 XP sealing ring needed?

Hey everyone, I just got finished doing a top end rebuild on my 94' XP and I was putting the exhaust back together and following the manual when there was a part missing. The sealing ring. so I am here to find out if its needed, I ask this because I don't remember taking it off so therefore it may have not been on there in the first place. any help will be greatly apricated and if possible can I be directed to the right place to find one.

No, it isn't needed, Seadoo just liked to put on extra parts to spend more money and reduce profits.

But yes, it is needed to seal the pipe connection.

thanks for the input do you know of any resources to obtain one. I have seen to been searching and unable to find one.
