ok seadooer's hope everyone is having a fun terrorizing weekrnd me boats are just about ready to hit the water.... question is... is it really necessary to loctite the three bolts on the jet pump cone, and the four bolts that hold on the steering nozzle and reverse bucket???? im not trying to go buy $30 worth of loctite for these lil shats.. and was thinkin to use just a lil red silicone...or even nothing... when i pulled them out it appeared that there was not anything on the threads origionally...(i.e.) loctite, silicone...nothing!!! so what do you guy's think?

That stuff is not that costly, many auto parts sell a small bottle for 5-6bux look for the 242 in the part number - my daughter showed me the one from the kitchen drawer 6ml at autozone 499.

On our boats, with all the stainless vs. aluminum mating surfaces, I don't think loc-tite is as important as an anti-seize compound. When you bolt up stuff with aluminum and stainless, they eventually form a corrosive material that pretty much welds the two pieces together.

So, I typically goop all bolts up with anti-sieze or grease so that when/if the time comes that I need to disassemble, they will come apart.

I have destroyed cylinders and stuff by trying to separate them from the bolts that hold them on. I don't want to do that again...

thanks for the input guy's... got the pump cone back on along with the four big bolt's holding on the nozzle and reverse bucket... i ended up using a dab of grease on the cone and a lil blue loctite on the four bigguns!!!!
