Evening all..

Sorry for the late post, I tried a search and found a few threads but no real answers, the one thread that was similar to this issue even ended with a post asking if anything worked out.. Basically, the 96 feels really really strong, doesn't feel low on power whatsoever and the plugs always look good, the RAVE valves look and feel normal and are clean (5 hours since cleaning, 58 hours total on ski) and there's no visible leak on the water regulator

We had the 96 and 98 GSX out last Saturday, both ran flawlessly, on GPS the 98 hit 61 mph and the 96 hit 56 mph, which ought to be right on target, the 96 held up really well with the limited, even when it was showing only 6400 RPM

The 96 GSX launches hard, even outlaunched the 98 (which passes it pretty easily around 20-30 mph) but the digital and analog tach were showing around 6300 RPM, 6400 RPM peak

If the 96 is hitting 56 easily, at only '6400' RPM on extended WOT runs.. It really feels like the ski is running well, but it's not showing the actual engine RPM

My 97 GSX is currently down because the water regulator failed, which very clearly felt like there was an issue and showed 6200 RPM after 5 minutes of running .. The 96 doesn't FEEL like anything is wrong, it just never shows higher than 6400 RPM and the MPH and power is there but the RPM shows low

Is it possible the ski just isn't showing the right RPM?

I had a 96GSX that read about 1200 rpm higher than it actually was. So yes it is possible for it to be off. For $40 you can get a little TTO trail tech tach to just wrap around a plug wire and confirm. It counts your hours also.

my 97 gsx was running about 53-54 on gps at what it said around 6900 rpm, so it sounds like yours is doing pretty good

It's usually in the 54-55 range and will hit 56 on smooth water after sitting at 55 for a little

It's also not humid here, like it probably is in FL..
