when i installed the new needle and seat in the carb for my challenger, the screw that holds the little keeper for the seat stripped the treads. i used a little bit of blue loctite to help hold this tiny screw in place, will the gas eat the loctite after time? hoping i don't need a new carb!!!

if it were me I`d fix it. vibration would most likely have it fall out. ask a machinist/machine shop, or get the correct tap and new screw...
you have to start somewhere to see what size or repair is needed...

Yep... what he said.

There is pressure behind that seat... and it's just going to push the clamp out. The thread locker trick is fine normally... but since it's submerged in fuel, has pressure on it... and the vibration is bad enough in the carbs, that they will break without that top support plate.... I'm going to say that it's not a reliable fix. (4mm is common, but 3.5mm is available)

Personally... there is a lot of meat in that area... I would just drill/tap to the next size.

Finally... if you have a problem with it... and it goes lean... you could loose an engine. So... I wouldn't chance it.

4mm or 3.5mm? is this the diameter of that screw or a tap size? you guys have convinced me, i'm gonna pull the carbs off and have it tapped out to the next size. will this be an expensive and tedious job?
