Installing new OEM foam pad for rear boarding bar (2003 GTX-4Tec)

Has anyone installed one of these? I got it from the dealer and man oh man, it goes on about to the first curve and that is it, you can't turn it, push it or anything after that. I have tried all different kinds of slim, oil and soap. I tried to warm it up a little and nothing works. Any help would be great.

I don't know if this is good news or bad news. The OEM supplier for the boarding step, it's Aqua Performance. They sell the foam but they have to install it. Anyway here is a link to their site with instructions.

The good news is it's only $12.00 installed, bad news is you have to pay the freight. Might be something you could do in the off season.
