Installed OEM wear ring almost 1 mm of gap?

Here are the pictures of the brand new oem wear ring installed. Why such a huge gap? Does it look like my impellar was machined by the last owner?right where the leading edge transitions to the following edge there is a slight point is is not perfectly round. there wasnt even that much room with the one i took out i dont think. Could they have given me the wrong wear ring at the store? it fit in there perfect. and input would be appreciated

Nope... the ring is right. I'd guess that the impeller is warn a bit. A new ring should be close... but there is still normally a 0.5mm gap. (about 0.020")

does it look too worn to use? is the edge of the impeller supposed to be flat? or come to a point like the leading edge?

The outer edge will be flat. I'd say it's ok to use..

Well i guess ill be using it then! I'm such a hypochondriac with this boat its not funny. Just with the starting problem i had with one engine last year i just want it to be a trouble free summer

Did you use an OEM wear ring? You should also fix your impeller.

I believe SBT has an exchange program to rebuild impellers, puts them back to original specs.
