I picked up a rebuilt 787 on Craigslist.

Installed it today.

I used the engine mount bracket from my original engine that I took out in the fall.

Here are my questions now that I forget where everything goes:

1. Which oil line goes where? I have a line coming from the bottom of the reservoir that appears to be the feed and another from the top that looks like a vent or return line. My guess is that the feed line attaches just below the carb to lube the rotary plate.

2. I installed the engine and did not use an alignment thing? Am I going to destroy my shaft? I never removed the impeller or shaft when I removed the original engine.

3. Can I use any low ash 2 stroke oil or do I have to use some thing particular?

4. Is there suppose to be a screen that goes in the airbox or a filter or something?

Thanks,

Chris

Hi,
1. the bottom elbow on the tank - the bottom line goes to the side (RV), the top smaller line goes to the oil pump.
the biggest line (return line) that goes to the top of tank comes from the bottom of motor.

2. I would align it again whenever the engine comes out. Did you keep all the little spacers discs???

3. 787 should use the BRP full synthetic, Amsoil Interceptor, or equivalent.

4. YES, Part #4 on this diagram, which you can get by clicking part at top of page or for the SEADOO diagram join as a premium member and download any manual you want. They call it foam but it's really a thick screen, at least it is in mine.

Thanks or the tips.

Yes, I kept the spacer discs, but I read you need and alignment tool.

Someone else said you can just eyeball it to make sure it's centered.

A third person said don't worry about it.

Not sure who to believe.

The person that said "Nah, don't worry about it" is the same person that was screaming"What happened?" I now have a big hole in the hull where the "thru-the -hull" fitting was.
Don't let it happen to you.

Okay, thanks. I removed the engine without removing the impeller or shaft. Is the alignment tool for lining up the shaft with the engine or making sure the shaft is straight with the hull?

I appreciate the help.
