Since owning my Speedster, each year I go through the normal oil/filter/plug change in the spring in preparation for another season. I have also added a full pump check.
I do this as it brings me piece of mind that I have inspected the pump fully for signs of any type of breakdown in the components that enable endless days on the water. Also, it helps to make sure that all mating surfaces and bolts will be free and able to be removed if needed quickly in the event of an unexpected issues.
