Input on 2002 GTX 4 Tec Needed

Thinking of buying said boat. A couple of questions.

1. The dealer seems awful proud of it. KBB says retail is 4800, NADA says high retail is 4500 and he wants 6000. When asked, the salesperson said that they took that in trade and gave too much for it. WTF? Why is that my problem? Well, he said he might be willing to entertain offers. What is reasonable? I am thinking of starting at $4000 and stopping at no more than $5000

2. Assuming I do get a price I like. What should I check for?

3. Any other issues with such a craft?

What are the hr's on it??? You can get and 04-05 rxp or rxt 215hp for that price with under 100 hrs. Keep in mind these are bad time nada values are higher then what these craft are selling for.

I'd rather not get another 2 seater. I'd rather have a 3 seater because they aren't as tippy. That is why we are getting rid of the XP.

Not sure on the hours but we will find out more later. Whatever the hours, I think $1200 over retail is a little high. Is there any justification for that?

Rxp's arent tippy and the rxt is a 3 seater look them up. Im just givin you an example of how you can get alot better craft for the price your looking to by that 02 gtx.

Yeah, the economy is bad but this dealer, asking 6k for that ski is looking to live off your purchase, not gain a small profit. If he took it in and paid to much, that's his fault.

I'd do just like you said, offer 4k and if he says no go, walk out the door. I'm sure he'll either stop you before you get there or maybe even call you up.

Remember, when you get the NADA value, that's expecting that the thing is in utmost perfect shape!.....for any oil residue in the hull, deduction, ....you say there was a bit of scale on the pump, deduction, .......you say a decal was a little faded, ........DEDUCTION!.........there is no way that thing is in perfect condition or worth 6k........find a deal worth bargaining for.

Remember, with this economy, you should be the one getting the good deal, not the dealer!................:cheers:
