Inline fuel filter premix safe?

Be sure you get a high flow filter. I put an inline filter on my SPI... had nothing but trouble with it and only after a few disassemblies of the carbs and other checks I tossed the filter and had no problems since.

I am going to go the other way and suggest not using an inline filter. They can restrict flow and cause problems. Honestly you only need the factory strainer.

I'll go the other way.......99 Speedsters do not have a strainer, just a filter. I've been running pre-mix for 10 years on it. Part #30 is the filter. Actually in 98 the SPeedsters and big challengers went with the fuel filters only.

But...........I'll agree on the skis as the OP has asked for just run the strainer. I answered more on the context of "is it safe to run as filter with pre-mix" ASSuming that he was worried it would get clogged with oil. My bad.

Very good question about clogging. That was my concern as well. My problem was my filter was too tight for the premix is suppose. Sure wasn't any dirt in there. I still like inline filters but I"m just not putting one on any ski without a specific reason.

Inside the factory filters for the boats is paper. I have ZERO issues. But, on skis/boats with the factory strainer you will have no problems. If you have a 2 stroke string trimmer/weed eater, look inside the gas tank with the sintered filter that is attached to the fuel line.............does that clog with oil? I think we all tend to over think things sometimes no matter what it is.
