Could someone give me a really good answer to how to look for a bad impeller or wear ring.

My clearence from the middle of my impeller blade to my wear ring fluexuates between .25mm and .40mm ...depending where I measure it...

The only wear on my impeller is on the blades that dont face the wear ring, and there are only small minor pit marks...

Why is there a slight fluxuation when I measure it (clearence) at diffrent parts ie( 9 oclock, 12 oclock, 3 oclock.)

My bearings are super tight.

Should I not worry about it, or replace the wear ring and - or impeller

Could my impeller be slighty bent, and if so is this a big deal since my clearences are all under .40mm ???

Or could my wear ring be warped a little bit ???

Would you spend the money, or do you think It would be better to wait till it REALLY needs replaced.

Im new to this I am not sure.

** also a tip I heard from a very experienced seadoo person...

Changing your pump oil each year is a waste of money. The oil does not go bad, and does not get dirty, its not a motor. Unless water gets in there you are wasting money. Dealers charge $100.00 to do this for nothing. He showed me w an exaple. My ski had 150 hrs on it, never changed. We went to change it, the oil was still clean. he said maybe once every couple years. Delears will tell you it goes bad over the winter.
Thanks,

Greg

Greg here is some information on the wear ring. Also the reason to change the pump oil is that it can get contaminated and cause problems if it is maintained. Lots of car motor oil companies say you can go 10,000 miles on some oil...uh not in my car. For the price of $6.50 for oil it's better to be safe than sorry. Yes dealers charge $99.00 per hr. with a 1 hour minimum. It isn't cheap to be in business....solution join the seadoo forum here and learn how to do it yourself.
Wear Ring clearance for your seadoo 1.0 mm or (.040in) Measure the clearance at the center of the impeller blades, with a 12” long gauge. Measure the clearance from the venturi side of the jet pump.

I hope this info helps you.

Re

Are you guys sure about the 1mm? I just installed a new wear ring and the clearance was about .10 mm, with a feeler guage.

My main question is how do to tell if a impeller is bad.

I have searched every thing on here and havent found a answer.

My impeller isnt chipped, just small pits on the left to right edge, not the edge facing the wear ring.

BUT,

the clerance to the wear ring is different at different spots IE 9 oclock 12 oclock 3 oclock. My bearing are perfect. The impeller does not look bent...

Thankyou for your time

The LIMIT is the most clearance that is allowed before it deems replacement.
If it doesn't appear to be bent it shouldn't be a problem. How does it run... on the water...that's whats important.
