Hello I just bought a 2006 Gtx supercharged and intercooled ski with 48 hrs on the clock, It is really slow. It only goes about 53mph. The rpms are at 8020 at full throttle on glassy water. The engine seems to run great and was well taken care of. But it just doesnt have any top speed. Any Ideas of what the problem is?

Is it the impeller damaged, How can I inspect it to see if it is?

My 2006 GTI is faster than the SC one

I am not using the learning Key.

Thanks

Speed/Impeller Question

Are you using a GPS or other known reference for the speed? The "dream-meter" (a water-wheel mounted on the rear transom) may not be indicating true speed. The GTX is about 50# heavier than the GTI, so that could be another factor, but you are correct; if the impeller is damaged, rock-chipped, etc., it would affect flow, thus speed. To be honest, my new '08 GTI reached 55 indicated and I have not had it topped out yet. I fully intend to get under my ski this weekend and see what I can see through the intake, but I have not yet done so. Hopefully others that have more experience can inform us on what you can see of the impeller, etc. Good luck with the GTX, it's a nice ski!

You can look inside the intake at the bottom of the ski and look at the impeller. If it is dinged up and does not have sharp edges that could be your problem. More than likely it is your wear ring, if you could even slide a piece of paper between impeller and wear ring you need a wear ring.
