are the rear of the fins(the part closest to the boat) on the impeller supposed to be straight or curled? just wondering cause i had to replace my wear rings and i noticed the fins had an inward bend to them...let me know please
what do you mean inward? forward? impeller is bent. do a search on eBay for seadoo impellers and you will get a lot of pics of what they look like. the rear edge should be straight across.
bent foward towards the inside of the impeller. pictures on google look to be completely straight...went to a boat mechanic friend who straightened the fins out. replaced everything and went for a wet-test. the boat accelerates nicely to 4000rpm's but after 4grand it jumps to the rev limiter and the boat stops in its track...almost feels like the impellers are free spinning. their obviously pushing water because its churning behind the boat. all i did was replace the wear ring and straighten the fins on the impellers...whats causing this? do i spend money on new impellers or is it a seal problem? thanks
The free-spinning you are experiencing is cavitation. There could be an obstruction somewhere in the jet pump water pathway, causing not enough water to get to the impeller, or you might need a new impeller.
