is there any reason why an OEM impeller boot seal and plastic ring couldn`t be used on a solas impeller?

it does fit, it actually fits the driveshaft a lot better than the mushy rubber solas seal.

If it fits... its fine. But on a skat track... they don't.

on the solas, the solas seal has a slightly larger base that you have to work at squeezing into the impeller. The OEM seadoo boot is just a tad smaller and fits in the impeller as you would think is a normal fit.

it`s appealing how the seadoo boot hugs the driveshaft better with the plastic retention ring also making a very smooth transition.

what`s the worse that can happen, the seal come out of the impeller? then disassembly and back to the solas boot...

I`ll post a pic up later...

Honestly..... if you aren't in salt water... the damage is minimal. I've seen a bunch of impellers installed without the boot. In fresh water... the spline will get a little crusty, but you can still get the shaft out.

Heck.... some impellers just use a couple O-rings. They normally don't even fit well. But, it helps retain grease.

with the way I`ve been servicing/maintaining ours, surprisingly there is still grease on the shaft splines. I`m also surprised at how much quieter the 140mm boat set up is compared to the seadoo ski`s. they rattle a ton.

here are a few pics for prosperity.
