I posted this in the 2-stroke boat area, but have not seen a reply, so I'm trying it here. If this is considered bad form, moderator may delete at will with my apologies:
When my new (to me) 1996 Sportster comes out of storage, the newly recovered seats will be going back in, but I also plan to rebuild the pump, as I think the wear ring is worn, and the impeller chewed. I read somewhere that the stock impeller is only a so-so performance unit, and the there are much better options out there now. The Skat Trak 17/22 swirl was mentioned as I recall. Do you guys have any advice? Looking for a better out-of-the- hole to plane curve, not really interested in top speed increase and will not care if I lose a few mph. Oh yeah, it's the 717 engine, dual carb.

I am going to be hon.est here that particular boat is grossly underpowered, a different pitch on the impeller will only help so much, that is a wetted surface area to be trying to plane out with a single engine
