ignition problem

i have a 1996 seadoo GTX and i had the key on the ignition but when i pulled it off it took with it the top of the ignition. What is this part called and where can i get it for cheap?

also what do i have to do to change this part and how hard is it to replace?

The parts link at the top of the page is a good place to start. That part that broke is the safety switch. It is found under "electrical acc." for your years and model, bout 90 bucks. Easy to change out. Might have to take to dealer if it is the DESS version to get reprogrammed.

whats DESS version and how do i know if mine is that?

Gain access to it, from remove'n the seat or remove'n the storage bin and look'n up under. Believe, if its "DESS", when mounting the landyard/key, should hear 2-beeps, I think, pre-DESS, was just a kill key..

it does beep when i hook it up, what would i have to go to a dealer to have them do for this?

Yah, you'll need to purchase the new post, and then, probably have the dealer reprogram it to your landyard key, so the mpem recognizes it...

i put the piece that came off back in and it beeps and cranks, so im gunna try to hold off for a little while on buying 150 worth of parts and service. thanks guys though
