I have learned a few things lately. I installed a temp guage in my boat a few months ago because I could not seem to get my temp warning beeper to work when I tried to test it. I left it allso installed just in case it were to work. I took this boat out last friday pulling a tube around for about 1 hour. Then for some reason I had a over heat problem. When you are haveing fun turning circles and so forth you are not as able to pay atention on all guages. this happened rather quickly. I had a complete blockage in my cooling line. This was a easy fix and we were haveing fun again but I was paying a closer eye on tell tale [pisser]. It was runing cool the rest of the day. when I got home I replaced the hoses on the exhaust so that they would not fail me later. [YOU NEED THE TEMP BEEPER TO BE WORKING OR YOU WILL BE SORY] I gave it acompression test after the over heat I believe I may have lost 5 psi sense the last time I gave it a compression test 5 months ago. I took the boat out the next day and after 30 minutes of pulling tube I was looseing power I ran it for 5 minutes longer [DUMB IDEA DO NOT DO THIS] I opened engine compartment and found that I had a pulse line going to one of my cabs fuel pump kinked [like bending a water hose to stop the water flow] I can only guess that with one carb geting fuel and the other not geting enough that this caused a lean mixture and ate the aluminum from the top of the piston all the way around more so on the exhaust side. [ There are more ways to have a lean mix than a dirty carb or bad fuel flow threw the fuel lines.] I repaired the kinked pulse line and it was not starting we were paddleing back to boat ramp and I tride to start it it fiered up so we were playing again closer to the boat ramp incase we were to have a nother problem. I took it home and then the next day we took it out again stoped in the lake to change people tubing and it would not start back up. that was the end of it being able to start in the water. I was abe to start it out of the water but it had a noise. I believe that what I may have been hearing is the motor being out of ballance as it was only runing on one cylinder. [IF YOU ARE EVER HAVING PROBLEMS AND YOU GIVE IT A COMPRESSION TEST AND THEN AFTERWARDS THE PROBLEM GETS WORSE DO NOT COUNT ON THE COMPRESSION TO BE THE SAME THE NEXT DAY WHEN IT IS NO LONGER RUNING] I was lost on troubleshooting problem as I was going by the day before compression reading. I bought a new complete engine. carbs and all and I will put a new top end on my old one this winter so I will allways have a back up and will not be down for more than a few hours at a time.

What is it supposed to sound like? Has anyone done an audio recording at idle, half throttle, and full throttle, in and out of water? Is anyone willing to do this?

I know my engine sounds loud and a bit uneven, but the 2-cycle on my neighbor's dirt bike sounds just as loud and uneven....

And I guess I'll pick up a beeper on the way home today...
