Have two freshly rebuilt 787s and carbs rebuilt adjusted to stock specs on the high and lows. First run out how long do I have to let it run before I can adjust the carbs idle to where they should be 1500rpm? Right now there drastically apart one at 2700 and one at 1700 on the water idling on trailer.

Yep, no need to have such a high idle as 2700RPM in water, adjust then both while at it. My seadoo engine idles around 1400RPM I think, b/c out of water that's about 3200RPM or so.

I like a high(er) idle myself but too high is unsafe in many ways.

Realize of course idling on trailer is gonna be about twice as fast as on trailer and final idle adjustment in water is best I feel. On trailer out of water I think shooting for 3200RPM should get you close.

After adjusting idle remember to go back and reconfirm oil injection pump cable adjustment.
