Hi everyone,
I own a 1998 Challenger 1800 and need to replace the Reversing Cable. It seems as though the cable to suit the USA and Canadian model versions are different. The identity plate on the stern of my boat is: CECA1610D898
Can anyone tell me if my boat is USA or Canadian ??
Many thanks
Geoff

You may want to email seadoo directly. My islandia starts with "CEC"... but I don't know if it was originally made for the USA.

If you dig around the engine compartment, or under the front storage compartment... you may be able to find the original tag with the part number of the boat.

I just checked the fiche and I don't see a different part# for CDN vs. US. Not to say there isn't but here is the fiche and a link to the parts list. You looking for# 17, right? PN: 204170058 Also, if you pull the cable out tape a pull rope to it with electrical tape wrapped real tight. On the cable there USUALLY is the part# molded into the plastic sheathing.

Here's another source which splits the US and CDN models.

Hi guys
Thanks for your replies.
Racerxx, I removed the cable and you are right....the part number is printed on the outer cover....it's the USA part number, the Canadian cable does have a different part number (204170059). What alarmed me originally was that in checking both fiche, the Canadian cable had been discontinued.......looks like I'm safe as the USA version is still available.
Again, many thanks to all of you.
Best regards,
Geoff

I just looked up the P/N you gave and that is listed for the Sportster, not the Challenger. The Number on your cable is the 20417058 correct?

I replaced the reverse/forward cable also on my Challenger 1800. I`m pretty sure (without looking in my file) that I bought an OEM cable from Cyclepartsnation.

I dont think I was asked if it was US or CA. I just went by the 4 digit number when clicking on the model.

Hi everyone again
I can confirm that the Reverse Cable from my Challenger 1800 is P/N 204170058 which is printed on the cable and seems to be identified on the Challenger 1800 fiche. The good news is that it is still available so i can fix things up and get out on the water.
Again, thanks for all the assistance and support.
Cheers
Geoff
