Hi everyone,

Has been a very long time since i have been on here but wanted to pick the brains of the collective for ideas in modifying / improving the interior and top half of my 1995 Speedster.

SO far have

  • rebuilt both engines and fixed up everything that is mechanical.
  • Am looking at replacing the two smaller batteries with to larger and would appreciate any feed back or how too's on where and how other users have secured two larger batteries into the engine cabin.

So far for the Interior the Seats and rests have been re vinyled and looking great - have swapped the colouring so that the purple has been replaced by white and white replace by the purple.

Im thinking of the following mods :-

  • UHF radio install under the steering wheel area.
  • Audio set up with 4 6 in speakers - two near the lower seat area at the rear and then either side of the single seat at the front with the receiver facing the same area. with remote heading back to the steering wheel.
  • Carpeting the whole deck in Purple marine carpet so that its a little less slippery.
  • De Stickering the entire boat and replacing with selected stylish new Seadoo Stickers.
  • Fixing all the cracks on the engine bay lid
  • have the following floating through my mind as other mods.
  • Creating 'head lights" at the front of the craft that are fibreglassed into the main rails
  • Changing the colour of the Hand rails to match into the purple.

Thinking about a Bimni Top and Wake tower

Wiring in an Engel Fridge and two other 9v Points.

Apart from that the only other possibilty was to paint the remaining white areas in another colour but have no idea what colour.

Any thoughts or other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Greetings Matt. I've spent time in NZ but have not made it to Ozzie Land as of yet. Hopefully will soon.

Early morning here stateside but this afternoon I'll take some pics for you of how I mounted a stereo/speakers and depth finder in my 95 Speedster. Also, I had not thought of moving batteries but I agree they need to be relocated. I'm gonna think that one through.

I'm also looking to mod forward seat area so that it opens up for stowage as well as put Jeep door half hinges on engine cover so that it can me easily removed.

Sounds like your boat is looking good. Pics always appreciated. Here are two I recently took. Will have to get some closer up.

Be Well, Jay

sounds like you have some good ideas; it would be really neat to see those light pods. my challenger is the same size as your boat and i have a stero installed and a thread on this site with pics of where my speakers are located (very similar to where you want to put yours) you could always add some LED's around the boats; in the navigation lights and some interior lighting

HI Guys the Ideas are sounding great. Love the Idea of the Internal lighting. There are some new strip led lights that a 4wd supplier are advertising over here at the moment that would look cool.

The front pods im thinking about at the moment will be from a fog lamp set up from a small car like a prius or corolla or something over here called a holden commodore. as they are a great round shape that allows easy modification and setting in Fibre Glass.

The other mod im thinking about whilst the Fibre glass out is mounting four inch speakers into pods on the engine cover or into the seat bumps.

But keep them comming

BTW have also found the instructions for the single battery set up. the only concern i have is over charging the battery. -

HI Everyone ok He is the list that is going to happen in the next two months.

- Self design and Fibreglass constructed head light pods with Tweeters speaker s in the rear of the pod
- Two 6 inch speakers next to the Jump Seat.
- All Current white Vynyl going purple and all Purple Vinyl Going to white.
- Installing Single Din Cd/ Radio in the Steering wheel Compartment Facing the Jump seat and remote next to the gear levers
-Adding 6*9 Speakers to the three seat area - where 6in speakers normal go .
- Single Battery Modifcation to large deep cycle.
- Adding UHF Radio under the Steering wheel.
- Changing out all switches to new push button style.
-Adding Amplifier under the steering well container
- Removing all stickers.
- Adding Hydroturf
- Adding two 12 / 9v Cigarete lighter points for Naivation and Mobile . On in the Front area and one in the Engine bay Storage area - For On board Fridge.
Then when funds return -
- Bimni Top and FOlding Wake bar
- Lights on the Wake bar.
- Sub woofer cut into the Steering well area with fibreglass box.
- Pick up new stickers and Apply.

Not sure what to do with the Ski locker. any thoughts?

i may look at the jump seat modifcation already suggested.

Will start a new thread shortly and update with photos, instructions measurements along the way.

Any ideas, thoughts or dreams that you have always wanted to add or change about your boat are welcome.

I just put hydroturf in my 2007 seadoo speedster it came precut and had peel off paper adhesive on back. Easy install looks great and keeps boat clean. No foot prints no slipping. Think about it It comes in many colors. Cost about $260

hydoturf is the way to go. I just installed it on my 2007 speedster. Easy install. use masking tape for proper placement and it stretches so use that atribute to ensure uniform placement See photo! I love it

That my friend is one hornee looking boat.

Thanks for all the comments guys, i hope the build goes well. Hopefully all the planning will cme to fruition. Question though

Placing 6 *9 speakers near the seats at the back has anyone done it and if so was it an easy install.

Also Putting speakers in either side of the jump seat, as i call it, is it an easy install. eg running the wiring up to the speakers and then into the steering wheel compartment?

cheers

PS how does one attach photos?

One Sweet ride my friend one sweet ride. The update for today is that its on the trailer sitting in the garage looking at me lovingly saying mod me daddy mod me !

Audio system will no comprise 2 6*9 , 2 - 6 in and 2 - 4 inch still thinking my way through the sub woofer. I may just need two amps for it if i go that way.

One may just surfice for know.

Pics up tommorow.

Hi everyone okay here are a few pics of the beast.

First one is how it came out of the Shipping Crate from the US. Such a mistreated boat :(

Next few are of how she is looking at the moment - i know what your saying - not much better but the engines are purring.

The Vinyl is now inverted with purple where the white is and white where the purple is two sections need re doing which is the three person seat which will commence shortly.

The de stickering began last night and continued today - Had a sickie cough cough :)

HI everyone Quick Question - Has anyone ever mounted a speaker under the Seat hump eg in the 2nd photo under the purple area ? the area leads into the Engine compartment. it would achieve two things. 1 Very easy access to the seat screws and 2 a very different location for speakers.

Thoughts ? Suggestions?

I hvae not looked at it too closly but that would be an awesome are for speekers but I know on my boat the gas tank goes under the seats; i don't know how much room there would be for the back of the speaker but if they fit that would be sweet!

All good ideas. I thought about putting speakers there on my 98 but the fuel tank is in the way. Just check from the engine compartment to see if there is room.

Hi Guys,

Think i may have you lead you down the wrong 'hump' Path. on the 1995 SPeedster the Fuel Tank is behind the Seat rest for your back etc. Im talking the actual seay part where your butt sits under the two smaller humps that divide the seats. Being a tall lad its a little difficult to get right down low enough to see right under the sitting seat area from the back of the boat.

The only speakers that would fit ( measuring from the Front) would be 4 in speakers. the concern i have is there anything dangerous right behind the panel that if you were sitting in the boat would be near your heals and ankles.

To hopefully describe the area more clearly - The back of the panel area is where you need to lie on the engines to remove the four bolts that hold the seat down to the boat itself. you know 'those pain in the AAA' screws.

HI Everyone,

Update for the Weekend.

have run all of the speaker wire and power wires from the 6*9's and the 4 inch speakers to the steering well. Positive and negative wires from the battery to the steering wheel well and am now thinking about installing a small fuse box in there so that each new item has a fuse and fail safe. Would appreciate ideas on this as there will be a fare bit of new gear

Therefore there will be

A single flick switch for the NAV lights,

Single FLick switch for the Anchor light

Single FLick for the New headlights.

Single Flick for the Kill Switch.

Radio kill switch

UHF kill switch

AS well as wiring in two 9v points. on near the steering wheel and the other in the engine bay - ready for the fridge.

New funky flick switches are ordered as well as a new key switch.

Have fitted all of the speakers but could decide if the Speakers near the fuel tank would fit so have decided not to put them in. May put them up the front near the Jump seat. but will do that down the track.

All battery terminals have been removed both batteries removed and the single battery modification started. THe new larger terminals are on. ready to go.

She is getting close.

More tommorrow :)

Hi guys here are a few pics of the build so far.

2 of the speaker locations

1 of the 2 pac painting of the speaker grills.

Will add shortly a few of the completed install of the speakers.

Have finally found the ignition switch and the flick switches too be used.

Am now thinking what material to make the backing plate for the switches out of as i dont want to use the orginal holes but will need to use the original chokes and the orignal starter buttons.

Am thinking perpsex? any other ideas? how thick 2 - 4mm or thicker?

Hydro turf?

Only thing I see missing in such an awesome boat is the luxury under my feet. It's called "hydro turf"........and they guy has a 15% discount for foum members who order it and use "seadooforum" in the order blank.....

I've done a lot of it this year. My boat has had it for 2 seaons. Now, my GTX is in line to get rid of that buckled up black plastic for the nice stuff.

Your boat looks truly awesome.............! Great work:cheers:

WAY TO GO, Achtung....as for the battery...cut the 2-inside lips of the trays, then you can install 1 regular size marine/car battery, BUT with power like that..(stereo), i say install the OPTIMA one...
