Ice chest on 97 Speedster

I recently bought a 97 speedster and the ice chest just has black styrofoam in it. Is there supposed to be a plastic bucket in there and if it is, how would I get a replacement through the small hole they provide? Seems like the inside is much larger than the opening

No plastic in mine either. It will keep ice in it all day long in the hottest weather, works perfect.
