Here is the situation...I have a very stripped bolt on my impeller cover and have to damage it to get the bolt out.

I see two ways to go on replacing the cover. One is a kit with anti rattle spring and a plastic insert.

The other is just the cone

The question...Is it best to replace the whole thing “kit” or am I ok to just swap the guts and replace the cone only?

Update...Got the cone off. I used a chisels around the side of the bolt to remove the plastics. Once gone I just pulled the cone off “around the bolt.” Once the cone was off I could finally get a bolt remover on and zipped the very damaged bolt off.

check out this carnage!!!! Fun times

I did... along with all new hardware.

I also bought an extra long socket just to handle changing those bolts.
