I have no choke blades in carbs, 97 SPX 787

I have a 97 SPX 787 and noticed yesterday that the previous owner took the choke cable/system out and replaced it with a primer system instead, the carbs have no choke blades and they installed a nipple/jet into each carb where the choke rod would go through for the primer/gas to squirt into, where the choke lever would go is where they installed the primer, even has "primer" factory engraved into the knob, need to pull it out and push it back in a couple times before it will spray gas out. Its tapped into the "ON" line coming out of the fuel baffle, why would he have done this? Is it ok to leave on there?

1) A primmer kit is cheaper than a new OEM choke cable.

2) Generally... a primmer will get a cold engine started faster than using a choke. SO... there's less wear on the starter, battery, solinoid, etc.

If it's in there, and working... it's fine.

That's OK... it's a general engien question.

FYI... I don't normally just install a primmer kit into a ski... but if any of the OEM parts are missing or broke... I will always put in a primer, over fixing the OEM.
