Just got the right engine installed in y 97 challenger and wasn't getting any fuel pulled the carbs and found the pulse line leaking pulled off the pulse line and the brass barb came with the hose. off the crank case i think i.m screwed.

The nipple fell out of the hole or did it break off? I think an epoxy such as JB Weld would work fine, just don't get any into the crankcase, put it on the fitting before stuffing it in the hole and let it cure 24 hours.

I never use the 5 minute JB weld stuff.
 
I've had to make a few nipples from time to time, usually from a piece of tubing lying around the shop. I've used copper, aluminum and steel refrigeration tubing.

Maybe if the steel is thin enough, you can drive an ice pick in there along side the broken stub and coax it into collapsing then grab it with some needle nose pliers, twist and pull. Try not to drive it further inside, or any metal chunks and pieces of course.
 
unfortunately it broke off might try an easy out to get the rest out if i could find a replacement barb.

The base wasn't threaded in... so DO NOT use an "EZ out" to try to remove it.


As Sportster said... you can fix it. I just did one last night for a customer. There was enough of the brass flange on the bottom... so I silver soldered it. If done right... it's stronger than the original brass.
 
Thanks guys, Dr Honda I should have been more specific what I did was use the east out until it was tight then used a slide hammer to tap the brass out. I then found that all the broke off was a little over 1/8" so i cleaned up the larger section and simply epoxied it back in place worked out well. I did dissemble the top end of the motor and put a vacuum down beside the hole to keep any particles from getting in the crank. All i need now is a gasket set to reassemble and reinstall the engine for the 3rd time and maybe i will get it on the water for the first time...
