I know there is always going to be water in the engine compartment. That's the nature of a carbon seal. But come on.....the area where the access is for the fuel pump just lets water poor in the egnine compartment. And the two cooler areas in the rear bench seat.....they both drain right in the engine compartment. Also not sure if this is correct on mine or not but the main drain for the interior deck behind drivers seat just drains right in the engine compartment. There is a scuflur value on the back of my boat...is the line just missing for it? Not one there. I'm the second owner so who knows if they removed it.

So I was going to ask and see if this would work..

The fuel pump cover- couldn't I just seal that area with a exterior caulking or silicon? Can always cut with razor blade when time to change filter...my factory carpet will hide the clear caulking.

The main deck drain- just add a line and tie into factory scuflur value.

The two coolers- add drain lines and tie into scuflur vaule also so everything just drains right out.

As anybody done this or something similar? I just hate all that water always sitting in there... Gets nasty... No matter how high I jack up the front of the boat water still remains... Just a deep pocket under engine area that holds lots of water...bilge pump can't get it all...

connect hose to scupper valve, undo your stern drain valves when the boat out of the water. the other stuff not sure, dont have a challenger

Yea it rained yesterday about 3 quarters of the day.....I have the nice factory boat cover but the wake tower lets little water in...I checked it after it was done raining and the water was up to starter...the starter is always wet....auto bilge takes a lot out but just the design is bad...there is just a big pocket or grove right under the motor....tryed putting car jack on front of trailer and jacking it up till back of trailer was hitting the ground...only empted half the water in there...

Thanks

I would be putting on an additional bilge pump. No way would I tolerate water touching my starter...

Yea I know...my friend has the same boat and year...we are in salt water....his starter looks like it's a artifact found at the bottom of the ocean...the motor is placed right in the v portion of the boat.....I just got this boat this year...only had 24 hours on it and looked new...no mold or slim in engine compartment...just after 4 months it's starting to grow...even tho I keep the engine hatch slightly poped my motor is always soaking wet looking...just way to much water to evaporate...going to get it completely dryed out this weekend and install all the things I posted up top...then hit it with the hose...

Thanks

As others have replied, I would definitely connect everything with a hose to the scupper and seal anything on the deck that leaks water with a good silicone caulk. I don't have your particular boat so not much more I can recommend other than looking at adding a diaphragm bilge pump in addition to or as a replacement for the one you currently have.

Diaphragm bilge pumps are 'dry sump' and usually self priming and are mounted remotely. You can feed the intake hose way down low under the engines where normal bilge pumps cannot reach. This way you should be able to get out almost every last drop. Lots of larger boats have inaccessible deep pockets in the hull and these are the only bilge pumps that can be used to get that water out.

They cost more than double what normal bilge pumps cost, but worth every penny in my opinion to keep your engine compartment dry.

if I added another bilge pump do you guys think it would be ok to leave the factory one where it is and tie in the new one to the existing wires and switch?...run two off of factory switch?

Yes, but it would allow for a pump to run dry while the other pump is dumping the water.

K...so I'll get a pump that is ment to run and put that one in the higher spot and move the factory one to the lower spot...good?

Thanks

Honestly what I need is a drain plug under neith the motor facing strait down...that would get everything out....but I'm way to scared to do that...it could leak or if I'm in shallow water and hit something I could tear it off...but that would really work...

Just wire the lowest bilge pump by itself, you can get power from most anywhere as long as you fuse it. Also, you can use the auto feature by itself if you want to save on wiring but I'd do it so I could pump manually too. Thus three wires: 1) Ground, 2) Manual on (connect to manual switch) 3) Constant live power 4) power from battery.

There are several ways to wire this stuff up, you might even try a couple different approaches to see which works best for you.

Agree, I'd definitely freak if my starter was lying in water, that's just wrong.....

Or,,, if you put in a pump and have it dump the water where the original pump is. Then if they run at the same time one would feed the other and the new pump would spin somewhat dry only for a the time it takes for the main pump to get rid of the water...

Sounds good...pick one up tomorrow and see what I come up with...going on the water also to test the low voltage issue I been having to...

Your deck drain should be direct to the scupper valve on the back of the boat (see diagram--lower right), and I'm sure if you could tie the cooler drains into the deck drain that would solve a good bit of that. Not sure who would disconnect that.

Nice....thanks....yea it's gone... It just poors right on my gas tank....I use my boat about 3 times a week...I'm in salt water so I wash it every time...that adds up to a lot of water pooring in there...
Thanks for that diagram...going to seadoo dealer and see if I can get that...or find a universal part...

Thanks

You should be able to get that at any local marine supply store

I can't say if this is the correct size but this is what you're looking for. It's cheaper on Amazon but for some reason SDF starred out the links. Again--you need to verify the correct diameter. This was just given as a visual.

You could probably pull the scupper or get part#'s off it and back into the fitting size.

Thanks for the help but I just called the local seadoo dealer and they have a 2006 challenger there that the owner is parting out do to it sinking at dock...mine is a 07 but should work....shouldn't be bad from sinking it's all plastic....said $5 for it if its there and I pull it...do I'm going up there around lunch...
I'll let you know and again thanks for the help.

Thanks

Sweet, grab all you can for the 5 spot. Like clamps etc....

I'm back....it was there and all the clamps I needed to hook it up...got it for $5...not sure what else i should get..it was salt water boat...

Glad it was there. If it were me, regulator, switches, any mounts that are specific to the boat. That kind of stuff.

Me to....this should help a lot with water....yea I'm going to look over my boat and see what I should grab as a extra that the salt water didn't destroy...

Have a 210, apparently the little pass through door and hardware is crazy money (and with kids is something I could see break at some point), would pick that up. Top of my head thinking battery tray if thinking second battery). Any plastic on exterior of boat (vent screen cover), latches for lockers look like a week point (anchor locker, ski locker, back deck), bilge pump, exhausts? impellers/ steering linkage...? Mine has not needed major maintenance as of yet but this forum looks like a great place to figure out what goes sideways and pick up spares. See if the guy has anything in garage that belongs to it (good cover? carpet?).
