i have a 2006 challenger 180 w/tower 215hp, can i alter the air intake to get more air? that big black box with the the mass air flow looks restrictive! well at least i think thats the mass air flow! i know alot about cars, i was and ASE mechanic before i became a FEDERAL firefighter! i dont know if i can get rid of that box or not and change out all the tubing? also with the supercharger is it recomended to install the blow off valve and put a boost gauge in? im planning on getting a service manual ASAP! i just bought the boat and its got maybe 30hrs on it! looks and runs great! any advice??? thanx!

I have a lot of experience with late-model GM cars and forced induction. You can generally put a supercharger on an LS-based V8 engine, and run 7 or so psi before the MAF is maxed out. This shows there is a lot of flexibility in the stock MAF. Guys modify their MAFs, or replace them with larger aftermarket ones, and get drivability problems that can't be tuned out. You don't even have the ability to try and tune (reprogram) the SeaDoo's computer. You can do anything you want with the air tubes as long as all of the air goes through the MAF. The only alternative is to have a program for your laptop that allows complete control over all of the functions of the SeaDoo engine control computer. I know how you feel, it looks like an easy improvement, but you have to trust that Bombardier's engineers probably have a pretty good idea about how to make engines run well.

thanx!!! i got a 94 camaro with a 383 stroker im looking to sell! i had it built to run on N02 but i got a bigger engine now! lol... im putting a 462 big block in it now! its got a 10pt roll cage and a bunch of other crazy mods! but i decided to take some time off and buy a boat! i love the seadoos because im all about wake boarding! i was reading up on some of the problems with the washers and the supercharger! im not too sure what that all means but i think i can figure it all out! i wanna get that manual and i def am going to put the waste gate and a boost gauge in! any other advise??? i have noticed some peoples boats have what seems to be a cold air intake but idk if they have a mass on those or not??? ill get the book and find out! thanx for your help!

well i know with tubos and SC's for cars that its good to relieve the extra pressure when you idle down! i read that riva has got one for about 200 bucks! also i read that if you monitor you boost once you start to see it drop you know your SC is time for a rebuild! it may help save the life of your motor!

Blowoff valves are for turbos, they help keep the turbo from slowing down or stopping when you let off the gas. A supercharger doesn't have that problem because its speed is engine dependant, not throttle position dependent. Now back to the MAF: the air that a blowoff dumps has already gone through the MAF, and won't go into the engine. So the computer thinks that xx grams/second of air went into the engine, but the blowoff was open, so only x g/sec went in. Still, the computer adds enough fuel for xx g/sec, and minimally wastes gas, and possibly fouls plugs or fouls them. Unless the blowoff dumps the air back into the blower inlet, in which case it will neither harm the engine any way, or help the performance in any way.
There are a lot more products that you can put on an engine that either don't help or hurt, than there are products that actually help.
I think that the only things that are relatively cheap and actually improve performance, without reprogramming your computer, would be nitromethane, or nitrous oxide and a wet shot (a way of adding extra gasoline).
I like the idea of a boost gauge.

lol... thats prob a better idea! if i wanna go fast ill just have to put my big block and my camaro a little sooner! lol... THANX

lol... hey get this!

I called the Riva Tech dept and inquired about this product, what he said was pretty much for me not to buy this product! He said it will help me but it’s not worth my money. It’s designed for the jet skis that is always jumping wakes and getting calvitaion. Also he said that it’s for some thing that is always on and off the throttle. The SC does have a clutches and the do slip when throttling down but with the jet boats he told me that enjoy it for what it is! I shouldn’t be driving it like a damn race car! (Witch I don’t, purely for recreation use with the wife and the dog!) But I was told when the blow off goes out the TPS will stop the fuel sending unit in a mili second! So there for no filing of the plugs! I guess when on a hard shut down the SC still spins will the motors at idle and builds heat and friction witch is relieved by this product! He convinced me if I don’t drive it like I stole it then I really don’t need it! He did recommend the boost gauge! He said that is a great way to visually see what the SC’s is doing! So I am going to go ahead with the install! So if anyone is interested I can post some pics!
