Is a 2002 Sea-Doo Speedster worth $5500? (assuming it is in decent condition)? Supposedly the only issue is that the sears show sign of wear and tear. Here are pictures of it
I know these motors are not used anymore, how expensive is it to maintain, repair them if something goes wrong?
Thank you

Personally.............I would look for a twin rotax Speedster. There are some out there in "our area" with that hull.

If you buy a Merc you're relegated to working on it yourself. Not a biggie, but I'll say if it suffers catastrophic failure which they've been know to break the oil pump gear you can be in for a costly repair.

For me, I know the in's and outs of the 787 engine. Parts are plentiful since it's just about all PWC, only a few boat only parts and the rest are commercially sourced.

Where are you in NJ?

Thank you. I am on the NJ coast right in the middle. So both of those are over 2 hours away.

Is there an issue that those two are four years older then the wont I had posted? (as you can see I am clueless regarding this). What should I search for (to see if new ones pop-up).

The main reason why I was looking at the speedster is I have small kids and they wouldnt be able to sit behind me on a typical three seat.

Thank you

Check the jet pump for pitting ect. It can be costly to replace the wear ring portion for the pump as you have to replace it. Unlike the Rotax ones where they have a plastic wear ring that is cheap. Also check the lower end oil for signs of water ect.
