I was riding my 1996 HX when it shredded the rubber damper at the PTO. The rubber damper between the two drive shafts was damaged as well. I removed both shafts and the forward coupling on the PTO has some damage. Here is a picture shot through the fuel tank of the coupling on the PTO. I know the proper way would be to replace it. But...I don't know how much work that will be. Do I have to remove the motor? The drive shaft has some damage as well. What if I get a new drive shaft and reuse the pto couple with a new rubber damper? Really bad idea or will it work fine?
