Hello all, This is my first time on this site and I am hoping someone will be able to guide me in the right direction. After correcting a few problems with my 1996 hx I thought I had it fixed. My trip to the lake proved otherwise. It ran great for about 10min. then it started bogging out and wouldn't rpm up. I could keep it idling and sometimes rpm up and take off, but only for a couple seconds. It did this all the back to the dock. Could this condition be caused by the stator? Thanks in advance for any help.

Welcome to the seadoo forum 1996hx. I believe the problem might be in the fuel lines. In that year, seadoo used GRAY fuel lines that deteriorated from the inside out and caused the small internal filter in the carburetor to get cloged. You'll need to disassemble the carburetor and clean the small internal filter. Also replace the Fuel lines with black lines available from like Auto Zone. Measure the old fuel lines and bring in a sample. If the clamps are corroded you can replace them as well with stainless steel ones while your at it. If you get in a jam give us a shout.

Thanks Karl, I didn't go into detail when I mentioned that I corrected some other problems. It has all new fuel lines, rebuilt carbs all specs are set. Rotor plate is set correctly. It had a weak spark so I put in another (used) stator and it produced a nice spark. This is where I am at now. I'm thinking the stator is getting hot and not working right or possibly a vapor lock problem.??

geee...I can't read minds... Ok, what I would try is check the fuel line vent. Follow the lines from the fuel tank and see if it is plugged. If it does it again unscrew the Filler cap and see if it has a lot of vacuum built up. I would also check the stator to see that it is ok also...I hate used parts, cause your not sure how long they will last if at all.

Keep us posted, nd let us know how it works out.

Well I did some more checking and determined that it is not a vapor lock problem. I did find something odd though. The rear cylinder had a small amount of water on the spark plug. This HX is all stock aside from the Factory pipe. It has good and even compression. Is it possible for the water to be coming in from the pipe?

If you run it on the hose and open the water first it will backflow into the engine. Other wise it could have a leak internally around the head, "0" ring or cylinder and leaking inside.
