Hull fuel vent

I really did try to search before I posted this but couldn't get a straight answer for my boat.

Is the gas tank vent on the right side of the hull strictly a vent or is it a one way check valve as well? Mine lets air go both ways and I just wanted to find out if this is normal. It's a 95 sportster 657x. im curious as to if this could be related to some hard starting issues.

I think it has 2 vents, one inlet, and one outlet, both would be 1 way and have to be installed in the right direction.

According to the parts microfiche here http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/seadooforums/showmodel.asp?Type=13&make=seadoojb&A=192&B=17 It shows only the boat has one, labeled as #12. It's called a vent there, no mention of it being a check valve. Still confused..... I know there is one on the oil tank, is this the second one you're talking about?

I guess it only has the 1 then. I know on my 96 XP, it has 2, one on the side of the hull, and 1 under the hood.

I'm getting mixed comments in other threads. Does this vent have a check valve? Or if not, does my boat have a check valve anywhere in the fuel system? If the fuel system is pressurized, it has to have one somewhere. 95 sportster 657X
