Just looking to see what everyone is using for a hull cleaner. There is mixed reviews on various cleaning methods some supposedly slowly wear away your gel coat and cause other damage.

In the past I have used Lime Away with good success.

Any opinions would be great!

White vinegar and water in a spray bottle.

We use it on the hull/windscreen/seats. After 6 years I see no issues with the gel coat.

I just used starbrite gel spray to clean the bottom of my boat. nothing else I tried touched the "brown" coating. I sprayed on, let sit for maybe 30 seconds, brushed then hosed off for a few minutes. I did wax the bottom after that.

I have used on/off cleaner before as well, diluted not straight after leaving the boat in the water for a couple weeks. It didn't touch the bottom "brown".

Nice and clean now:

I have used starbrite hull cleaner for years with good success. Key is to spray or wipe it onto a dry hull, and within about 1 min. you hull should be bright white again. Keep it off of anything galvanized though, it will eat through that with aggression. It is pretty toxic stuff, so wear eye protection and gloves.

This year I am trying something new I researched on the interweb, ordered powdered oxalic acid and plan to dilute that in some water and see how it works. Might be a less toxic and inexpensive option compared to the hull cleaners. If I have success I'll let yall know.

Boat Bling - Hot Sauce

Works great when in/out of water each day or boat in water a couple days. I used it on my boat sunday immediately after being in the water for 9-10 days. Worked good for most of it but not the very bottom or left a couple areas not totally clean of brown.. Now I need to do something else.

Iron out powder mixed with water spray on hull and watch the brown water line disappear in front of your eyes....rinse everything well [emoji41]

Well I tried the starbrite instant hull cleaner, works great for water spots but the heavier build up laughs at the hull cleaner all day long... I ordered some Boat Bling Hot Sauce and it was lost in shipping from Amazon. I guess my boat wasn't meant to be cleaned!

In the end I went with what I wanted to avoid, Zing boat and hull cleaner, tough stuff to use but no scrubbing what so ever and removed all the nasty river water build up we get in Iowa. ...and it probably shortened my life by a couple years even with protective gear.

Should have gone with the Slimy Grimy. Works just as good without all the harmful chemicals and such.
