Got the news I was expecting (and dreading this afternoon) from the dealership, took my 05 Speedster in around 10 days ago to have the tower looked at as part of the safety recall, few days later they confirm that "yes, you are are getting a new tower, however, its on back order and should be in by 1st June", so I call today to get an update - guess what now on back order until July at the earliest..... awesome...... they suggest I come and pick it up (without the old tower on obviously) and take it away so I can at least use it while they await the parts, great 4 hour round trip and $45 bridge toll here we come!! Another PIA is that my boat was missing the ski pylon when I bought it used so in theory I have nothing at all to attach a rope to for boarding, tubing or F all, I knew I should have taken it in earlier but they were putting me off giving me the usual blurb about being busy with ski-doos etc.

Cant even manage to get a free oil change or anything out of them, gotta love the dealers, I know its not their fault really but I cannot imagine if I walked in there and wanted to order a brand new wakeboard tower for my boat that I was paying cash for, that they would say, "sorry we cant get you one till July". I may be on to something there though.......

IDK man, if it's on back order, then it's on back order. They can only get in the parts as they come. I went thru this with many motorcycle dealers, but they don't have any control over this kind of stuff.

Corporate BRP customer service has been known to be generous if you call and complain. I woulf give it a try, try to get something out of them for your gas money and trouble. I would get them to replace the missing pylon if it was me.

ah well, call BRP Customer Service b!tched and moaned about me being out of money and a boat due to them not being able to access parts that you would think should be readily available due to the ongoing safety recall........nothing....nada..... from them, apologised for the inconvenience and thats it. Decided I may as well just go get it and bring it home for now, I wanted to do an oil change etc so will do that while I wait, I was planning on fitting a transom mounted ski tow ring anyway so as not tto place the new tower under stress by towing tubes, guess I will have to move that plan forward...

Also unhappy!

I can relate with your pains. I recently picked up an 04 speedster and not a month after the tower cracks over the rear right disconnect, right on the factory weld. I had heard of a recall on this, so I called the dealership to be told that there isn't a recall on my boat. So I rewelded it. Simply thought the guy that had the boat before me hit something and stressed the weld. It broke again last weekend on the way to the lake, not happy. I found the recall, which states its for 2004-2006 speedster 200s as well as 2007/2008 200s and wakes. Sounds like that should cover my boat. Nope, they simply say my boat isn't covered. No reason no explanation, just no, my HIN doesn't match the recall. I dont get it, I have spoke to my dealer, I have spoke to customer service. So far nothing is being done. I did talk to someone at BRPs customer service that has made a case file to have someone call me back. So now I just sit and wait, but for what to be put on a waiting list. I think I am going to dump this and move on.

Have you thought about going to the manufacturer of the tower and seeing what they say? I know my tower has the manufacturers sticker with a serial number on the top up by the ski rope tie on. Just tell them you are interested in purchasing one and see what the lead time is for it. If they tell you two weeks, take that back to the dealer and see what they can do about it.

I know a ski eye would be cheaper, but could you not just buy and reinstall the pylon? I have not priced one, but knowing BRP, I'm sure they are not cheap.

Or you could get on seadoowarehouse.com and check for all the necessary parts and see what the lead time is there.

Maybe they'll just refund what u paid for wakeboard tower option ... Take that dough and give monster towers a call?

Well, finally picked up he boat from the dealers yesterday, looks all sweet with the new tower, just need to clean the boat out (looks like it was sitting under a tree at dealers..) and do the oil change and I should be out in it for its maiden voyage of the year at the weekend, about time!! I was planning of doing an oil change ($250 just for supplies from dealers..... although I did get a couple of other small pop rivets and the like) should I definitely do this before first run out even if I am just going for a cruise around to check out the area, (I moved last fall and was planning on just doing a quick fact finding cruise around the coast line here). I had the superchargers rebuilt by Greenhulk in the off season too, so maybe it would be a good idea?

So your saying you got a new tower, and your boat was bought used? And it was a 2005? 7 years old? Wow... That's amazing...

Yep, I was impressed with that, just called BRP they checked the VIN and confirmed my boat had not been looked at as part of recall, the tower welds were totally gone, so I had a feeling they would not try and repair them so was hopeful all along that a new twer was a distinct possibility. Only one gripe really, (well two if you count how long it took them to source the tower) my old tower had a ski mirror attached (when it wasnt falling off) but I just noticed last night that the new one has no mirror, emailed the dealer, waiting for a response

Good to hear you had yours taken care of. I am still in talks with some one in upper management of customer service anyway. The problem they have is that the seadoo tower that is on my boat doesn't show up when they run my HUL. I have the original bill of sale from the guy that bought it, and on the invoice they show they installed a wakeboard rack. I explained to the guy a BRP that if they installed a rack on this boat then it obviously had a tower. He proceeded to tell me that maybe it isn't their tower. I haven't found a tower on the market that fits these boats the same way as factory. Has anyone else seen one. Where I am at now is, I have sent him pictures of the broken tower, pictures of it on my boat, pictures of the parts catalog on their website that shows the image of the exact same tower as well as copies of both the original bill of sale and my bill of sale.

Heres hoping I can get this added. I dont think I should be held accountable for their clerical errors.

Thats what I was afraid of... maybe its a aftermarket tower...

My old one had a Seadoo part number right on the tower near where you would attach the tow rope, pretty sure it was at the front of the tower because I remeber seeing it when I was wiping dead flies off after towing the boat across the country! That should be a give away as to whether its a Seadoo Tower or not

Mine has that part number too. Its definitely a seadoo part number. Says speedster then 204071965. The problem is, no one seems to know what that part number is. It doesn't exist in their system.
