So.... I took my Challenger to a mercury mechanic to get my leak fixed (gasket #5) expansion chamber gasket.
I got the boat back Friday night. Hit the river yesterday. Now it leaks worse than before from #21 engine adapter plate AND #5!
Does anyone know of a video or instructions on how to REMOVE the engine? There's not enough room to be able to lift the motor straight up. And OF COURSE #5 is under the deck.

Thanks in advance!!

Are you sure it's coming from the expiation chamber? If it was leaking... you would also see smoke from the exhaust getting past.

If that's the gasket you were asking about in your other thread.... you may be in luck. I may have it sitting on the shelf.

As far as getting the engine out... it will lift straight up. (at least 4~6 inches) It has to, since the driveshaft comes out of the pump, and slips into the crankshaft. If you pull it sideways... you will bend the shaft.

Also... it's a heavy engine, and you need a lifting eye, and an engine hoist, or A-frame to pull on. It's WAY too heavy, and awkward to try to lift it by hand. (even with 2 or 3 guys)

Well... I do have that gasket... but it's a different part number for the 240 engine. So... I'm not sure if it will fit on the 210. (sorry)

It doesn't appear to be 6 inches of clearance.
No there is no smoke. Just water from the expansion gasket
