I've got a 2007 Speedster 150 and somehow last time we went out - one of the seats became unattached - Anyone know how to snap it back in? looks like it should just snap in - but I cant seem to figure out how - picture attached - thanks! :stupid:

what happened to the plastic clips? they pop right back into the holes in the boat. at least that's what i remember. my seats didn't come off but a couple of them started to wobble a little so i just pulled them off, threw away the clips and siliconed them back on. now they're nice and tight.

They are currently still in the boat - where the seat attaches - check out the pic I attached - should i take them out of the boat body - slide them into the seat - and then try to push the seat back in?

The clpis that are stuck in the fiberglass are supposed to be in the seat bottom first, then the seat should snap back in. If the clips are broken take one with you to any auto parts store and match it up. Should cost less than a buck.

Whats the best way to get the clips out of the fiberglass ? I tried using a skinny flat head screwdriver but it starts to chip / scratch the fiberglass - thanks for the help - I really appriciate it!

There is a special door trim tool for removing them, but if you grab them gently with a pair of side cutters, or needle nose pliers you should be able to pry them out. Just put a small piece of wood or something under the pliers to give yourself some leverage and to protect the fiberglass.

Wow.. ok.. I tried that.. and was able to get one of the clips about 1/2 inch up but not completly out of the hole. I stopped for a moment to check to see if the warrenty covered this type of repair.. seats are excluded. :( so back to it I go - but it seems really difficult to get them out, and then I am wondering how I will line up the clips / holes on the seat, once I get them out. Has anyone (besides kyljsph) done this repair before and have any tips?

I've never done a seat on one of your boats, but I can't count the number of door panels I've put back on at work. They tend to go together much easier than they come apart. Just take your time when you go to pop the seat back on and "FEEL" for the push clips to find their hole before you give the seat a smack with your hand.

Cool.... are you on those xterra clubs as well?

Those clips are a pain in the ass to remove. They are in there pretty tight and they're about 2 inches long. Why don't you just do what I did. Gluing the seat down isn't permanent. I used clear, mold resistant bathroom silicone. If I wanted to take the seat off in the future I would just have to pull them off. It's not hard. It's also easy to scrape off old silicone unlike contact cement or epoxy. Even if you reuse or replace those clips, over time they will start to wear and the seat will shift back and forth on you. It's not a big deal but it could get really annoying.

Had that happen to me on my 08 Speedster within the first month. The dealer replaced the clips, same thing happened a few weeks later. He got new clips again and I also used some heavy duty velcro along with clips. It hasn't moved since. Apparently its a common issue with this.
