Funny title...But legit.

Got my boat that I started looking for last season. I've been reading the manual and some things that I feel are important are left out. Things that people with experience may know. The manual states to lubricate just about everything after every use in salt water but they don't go into detail on how. I guess they assume I've done all this before. So do I just spray over everything or does it need to be area precise sprays?

Also for the product itself, since boats aren't made by BRP anymore does the jetski stuff work for it or is this stuff in high demand? Also does anyone suggest another brand product?

Thanks for any info and I'll probably evolve this thread for any other maintenance questions I have.

BRP (Seadoo) does made a spray lube, most use WD-40 or CRC Spray Lube. I have been using WD-40 with a flip up attached spray nozzle thing on it. Basically, even if you don't really get the engine wet, it will get salt water type crust on it. I spray the entire engine as best I can. I have two skis and some places are challenging to get to. On many of the 4-tec engine there is a little yellow plastic valve with a cap on it. If you have this cap, remove it and give it a squirt down the hole as this lubricates the throttle body.

I have found that it helps a TON if I squirt all the little things on the outside of the ski as well as the drive shaft from below through the grate and the impeller from the rear of the ski. I spray a little on all of my ratchet tie downs and ANYTHING else that is not protected metal. It sounds like a lot to do, but I doubt I spend 10 minutes on two skis and my trailer.

Thanks. My main concern if there was something that I should NOT spray directly. I will mainly use my boat in salt water so this is good know. WD-40 is Okay?

Officially, anything is fair game. I hit the electrical plugs lightly just in case salt water for to them. Corrosion and connections are he number one issue with performance of the engine.

I don't go nuts with the spray, just enough to do the job.
